"In addition to Windows Live Messenger integration that you may have heard about, we also announced a new text input device coming this summer."

... Your attempt at sarcasm confuses me. You shouldn't switch from true sarcasm to spinning anti-PS3 stuff with positive wording. Makes for confusion. Stick with true sarcasm using more obviously false claims. Won't hurt my brain as much ... Not that you should care about my brain.

Brain hurt ... I go lay down now.

This one isn't obvious because most people wouldn't follow the "NVIDIA Lawyer Filter" link and go through a "quiz" just to find out if this is or is not true.

It fooled me--at first--because I didn't even see the link to the next page, and I am well aware of real reports of GeForce 8800 problems usually attributed to drivers. Don't know why I went back and did that stupid quiz ... But I'm glad I did.

I didn't know the announcement was made. Haven't seen anything about it yet. Thanks for the update.

As far as I know, Microsoft still feels that HDMI and a larger HDD are unnecessary. The fact that their offering them as options doesn't indicate that Microsoft thinks they're necessary. It may just be that a large company actually listens to consumers. We asked for HDMI and a larnger hard drive, and POOF! Here it is.

Is Sony commenting on Xbox 360 rumors, or was an announcement finally made?

At least, I think this is good news. Adding one partner and losing another makes sense. It means that Microsoft may have got a better deal and/or they're moving to production of another motherboard. (65nm chips anyone?)

Either way, lowering the costs for Microsoft now will mean better services or lower retail prices sooner.

I don't think so. Final Fantasy would be a fantastic win for the Xbox 360; but Sony isn't going to go down with that. As long as Sony continues to publish 1st party titles that people want (like "God of War") they'll continue to have some success.

Really? It is? Is it out already?

I still think it would do alright in the US. Final Fantasy is the favorite JRPG franchise in the US. It is beat out by Dragon Quest in Japan. Maybe it wouldn't be as popular as Final Fantasy VII or X; but it'll do alright. I'd buy it.

I think it would do better on the Xbox 360 than it would on the PS3 in the US, just because of the current install base. Rumor has it that the White Engine used in Final Fantasy XIII is multi-platfo...

Don't know nothin' about Sylpheed, but Microsoft publishing the game doesn't mean that Final Fantasy is 360 bound. What it means is that Microsoft wanted this game in the US, and Square-Enix didn't think it would sell.

Now, as for Final Fantasy, I would love to see it come to the Xbox 360. I'm not going to cry if it doesn't; but I did enjoy the franchise up to Final Fantasy VII (the last one I played).

What about one of the FF games on Xbox Live Arcade? Yeah, I k...

... I'm curious to know where you read/heard this. Everything I've read suggests that the PS3 does reserve quite a bit of memory for its O/S.

Contrary to what I read--and with no real basis at all for it--I thought at one time that the O/S used very little, and it was just the cross-media interface that just wasted a ton of memory. But now that they've added background downloading, I'm beginning to think that the PS3 O/S is a little more robust that I thought before.

Not all Xbox 360 games look better than their PS3 counterparts. "The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion" is a good example. You might be able to attribute the better graphics in the PS3 version to having additional time to tweak the graphics; but regardless, the PS3 version does look better.

I know that's beside the point that you were trying to make; but I just thought I'd chime in on that one.

As expected, this video makes the pop-in issue much easier to compare. Whereas objects pop into the frame on the Xbox 360 version, the PS3 version doesn't seem to show any of that. It's all very smooth.

Nice ... Still, the overall graphics don't look all that different. The PS3 version seems just a bit more sharp with crisper colors ... Which is not always a good thing. Uriel's face looks dreadful on the PS3 version. His clothing looks nicer; but the wrinkles on his face are a ...

The graphics in the PS3 do look slightly better in up-close objects, and the colors more vibrant. That said, I don't feel like the differences--while noticable--are truly significant. I think that a video comparison might do a better job of highlighting the differences. Stills can't show the differences between the consoles when it comes to what may be the most noticable changes: Pop-ins and draw distance.

Anyhow, I've got Oblivion for the Xbox 360. These graphical improvements...

Though it might not be used for the next Final Fantasy game, SE's licensing of the Unreal Engine 3 development tools indicates that it recognizes the need for multi-platform development.

It may be too late for a quick port of Final Fantasy XIII--what with its prorietary PS3-optimized engine--but that's not to say that SE won't bring it to the Xbox 360 at some point. That said, having a small install base for XIII isn't as much a concern as some might think. The PS3 is doing muc...

The DX10 version is visibly better in the screen shots. Better lighting effects and draw distance are instantly noticable. But what you can't see is what really makes DX10 so cool: The smoke animation at the "camp". If only you could see how the smoke reacts to character interaction in both versions. You'd be much more amazed at the difference.

The review doesn't suprise me at all. I could expect a higher score based on hype alone, or a lower score based on the lack of depth in the title; but 7.9 sort of cuts through the middle of my expectations for an IGN review.

Playing the demo for the game is a lot of fun. A LOT of fun. However, it quickly becomes evident that the game itself may run stale in a short time. How many times can you race the same tracks? Sure, you could run them with a motorcycle, then a buggy, then ...

In the article, Suzaki says: "it WASN'T very difficult to port this game since the PS3 hardware is more powerful compared to the arcade hardware". Instead, it was difficult because the way the graphics are handled is different between the arcade machine and the PS3.

I'm not sure if 2.5 months is a long time to port a game or not, but it seems like it was pretty quick. Hopefully the end product is a success.

Isn't that like saying "We're going to say something that nobody else is going to say?" Okay ... Um, good. 'Cause if you didn't, what would be the point of being there?

I'm sure Sony's got something good planned for the GDC, but this is just a PR way of revealing abosolutely nothing and getting a few suckers excited about it.

Love this statement:
"The high-speed router is useful to gamers because it supports the latest Wi-Fi standard 802.11n, which means it can transmit data fast enough for playing video on a connected device."

First off, 802.11n is NOT a standard. It is in draft phase and still hasn't been accepted by IEEE as a networking standard.

Second, none of the game consoles (to my knowledge) have built-in support for 802.11n. The Xbox 360 Wireless Adapter su...
